1) What the Service does
The Service encourages physical activity by letting participating students connect a Strava account so we can retrieve activity summary metrics and calculate weekly points. Points can be redeemed for program rewards (e.g., snacks, shirts, caps), subject to availability.
2) Who can use it (students 15–19)
The Service is intended only for students affiliated with UWC ISAK JAPAN who are generally 15–19 years old, plus any individuals explicitly approved by the program administrators.
By using the Service, you confirm you are eligible and that your participation is permitted under your school’s rules. If your school requires guardian consent for participation, you agree to obtain it before using the Service.
We may refuse, suspend, or terminate access to the Service if we believe you are not eligible or are using the Service in violation of these Terms.
3) Strava connection (important)
To use the Service, you authenticate with Strava using Strava’s authorization flow. You are responsible for your Strava account and its security.
Not affiliated with Strava. The Service is independent and is not endorsed by or affiliated with Strava.
Strava data visibility rule. We will not allow anyone other than you (the connected user) to see your Strava-derived data inside the Service unless you give prior express consent.
4) Points calculation, verification, and changes
- Points are computed using a mathematical formula that may include distance, pace, and elevation gain.
- We may recalculate or adjust points if we detect errors, suspected manipulation, or abnormal activity patterns.
- We may update the formula or program rules over time to improve fairness or prevent abuse.
5) Rewards (sponsored by school budget)
- Rewards are funded by a school-allocated budget and are offered while supplies last.
- Rewards have no cash value, are not exchangeable for money, and may be substituted or discontinued at any time.
- Rewards will not include Strava logos.
6) Data use and retention (weekly + deletion)
We use Strava data only to compute and verify your weekly points.
- What we access: activity summary metrics needed for scoring (e.g., distance, pace, elevation gain), as permitted by the Strava permissions you grant.
- What we do NOT do: we do not display activity maps, do not run leaderboards showing others’ activity details, and do not show your Strava-derived activity data to other users.
- Retention: activity-specific data used for calculations is kept temporarily for the current week only and is then automatically and permanently deleted. In any case, we do not keep Strava data in cache longer than 7 days.

7) Prohibited behavior
You agree not to:
- falsify, manipulate, or fabricate activity data or points;
- attempt to exploit the Service (automation abuse, scraping, bypassing limits);
- interfere with the Service’s security or other users’ access;
- use the Service in a way that violates Strava’s rules or applicable school policies.
We may suspend or terminate access for suspected violations.
8) Strava branding / attribution
If the Service displays any Strava data, we will follow Strava’s attribution and brand requirements as applicable. We do not have a general right to use Strava’s name or logos beyond what Strava permits.

9) Availability and disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or error-free scoring.
Health & safety: the Service is not medical advice. Participate responsibly and within your limits.
10) Limitation of responsibility
To the maximum extent allowed, we are not responsible for:
- inaccurate or delayed activity data received from Strava;
- technical outages or interruptions;
- reward unavailability due to budget/supply constraints.

11) Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last Updated” date will reflect changes. Continued use means you accept the updated Terms.
